Tristan Thompson, an NBA player, has publicly apologized to Khloé Kardashian after a paternity test revealed that he fathered a child with another woman while the two were dating.
Tristan Thompson confirmed on Monday night via his Instagram Story that he had a baby boy with personal trainer Maralee Nichols.
The basketball player, 30, wrote:
“Today, paternity test results reveal that I fathered a child with Maralee Nichols.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established. I look forward to amicably raising our son.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both privately and publicly.”
In a subsequent slide, Thompson admitted that his relationship with Nichols, 31, had harmed his relationship with Kardashian, 37, whom he was still dating when his newborn was conceived.
“Khloé, you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you.
“You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years.”
Thompson went on to say that his actions “certainly have not lined up” with his personal view of the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum.
“I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think,” he added. “Again, I am so incredibly sorry.”
Thompson previously denied having sex with Nichols in California, where the paternity case was filed, claiming that the child’s “only” possible date of conception is March 13, 2021, his birthday when he was in Texas. Nichols stated in previous court documents and in a statement last month that the child was conceived in April.
Thompson claimed in court documents that he only communicated with Nichols via Snapchat, the photo messaging app that automatically deletes messages after they’re read, and that his relationship with Nichols was “based solely on sex.”
