19 children in an elementary school in Texas were murdered together with two other teachers in a mass shooting incident.
Two sets of 10-year-old cousins, as well as a teacher who died a “hero” trying to protect her young students, were among the fatalities identified in the Texas school massacre that killed 19 children and two teachers on Tuesday.
According to their families, Eva Mireles, 44, and Irma Garcia, 46, were the two teachers killed in the Robb Elementary School attack.
The identities of the child victims have been confirmed as

- Alithia Ramirez, aged 10
- Alexandria “Lexi” Rubio, aged 10
- Eliahana “Elijah” Cruz Torres, aged 10
- Tess Marie Mata, aged 10
- Rojelio Torres, aged 10
- Layla Salazar, aged 10
- Maite Rodriguez, aged 10
- Jailah Nicole Silguero and Jayce Carmelo Luevanos (cousins)
- Jackie Jaylen Cazares and Annabelle Guadalupe Rodriguez (cousins)
- Miranda Mathis, aged 11
According to Lieutenant Chris Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety, all victims were shot dead inside one of the elementary school classrooms after the gunman locked himself in.
Ms Mireles’ spouse is a police officer for the school system. Her cousin and grandma expressed their grief and outrage over the gun carnage that has engulfed the country on social media.
“My lovely cousin!” What a tragic day for us all! Arizmendi Mireles said, “My heart is crushed into a million pieces.”
