Jason Derulo cuffed for attacking fans who called him “Usher”
On Tuesday, January 4, singer Jason Derulo was handcuffed after attacking two men in the lobby of a Las Vegas casino.
According to reports, one of the men yelled at him, “f–k you bitch,” and referred to him as “Usher.” A video posted online showed the 32-year-old crooner pounce on the hecklers at the Aria Resort and Casino while exiting an escalator and passing a group of onlookers who had taken out their phones to record their encounter with the musician.
Someone in the audience yelled, “Ay, why did you slap him, dawg?” before another voice yelled, “Hey Usher, f–k you, bitch!” in apparent reference to another recording artist, Usher.
It was unclear whether the heckler truly believed Derulo was Usher or was making a joke about the two musicians’ resemblance, but the profane remark seemed to rile Derulo. He allegedly hopped over a security rope and punched the man, prompting bodyguards and several other people in the area to intervene.
The singer was also seen assaulting another man and tussling with him on the ground as more people tried to separate them. “WTF!” exclaimed the man filming the video. “Don’t touch my boy!” he exclaimed as he backed away.
Derulo appears to be handcuffed in a separate video posted by social media user @christian labare8. Christian told Page Six that Derulo did not initiate the fight.
