Apple is the first US company to reach $3 trillion market value
Apple is the first company in the United States to have a market value of $3 trillion.
Apple Inc. has become the first public company in history to have a market value of $3 trillion after its stock rose 3% on Monday, January 3, 2022.
The Silicon Valley firm’s shares reached a high of $182.88 around midday on the first day of trading in 2022.
The tech titan’s market cap has risen to $3 trillion, based on its stock price, less than two years after it reached $2 trillion.
Apple’s rise to $3 trillion is due to the phenomenal success of its iPhone line, which has spawned accessories such as the Apple Watch and AirPods, as well as services such as AppleCare, the App Store, Apple Music+, and Apple TV+.
“It’s a fantastic accomplishment that deserves to be celebrated,” said Jake Dollarhide, CEO of Longbow Asset Management in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “It just goes to show how far Apple has come and how dominant it is in the eyes of the majority of investors.”
Apple joined Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) in the $2 trillion club, which is now worth about $2.5 trillion. Alphabet (GOOGL.O), Amazon.com Inc, and Tesla (TSLA.O) all have market capitalizations in excess of $1 trillion.
