Okoye is the son of a Nigerian father and a German mother and was born in Düsseldorf.
Maduka Okoye Club Career:
In the summer of 2017, he left Bayer Leverkusen’s youth team, where he had played since 2009, to join Fortuna Düsseldorf’s youth team.
On 14 October 2017, he made his professional debut for Fortuna Düsseldorf II in a game against Wuppertaler SV in the Regionalliga West, replacing the injured Max Schijns in the 43rd minute.
During the 2018/2019 season, he took over as the club’s regular goalkeeper.
On August 24, 2019, he played his first match of the 2019/2020 season, a 2–1 home victory over Schalke 04 II.
Okoye signed a free transfer with Eredivise side Sparta Rotterdam in July 2020. During the 2020/21 season, he was named Sparta’s Player of the Season after keeping 10 clean sheets in 28 league games. Okoye signed a contract extension until 2025 on August 4, 2021.
Okoye agreed to join Premier League club Watford on a five-and-a-half-year deal for an undisclosed fee on November 8, 2021. Okoye will join Watford on January 1, 2022. Okoye was loaned back to Sparta Rotterdam until the end of the 2021/22 season as part of the agreement.

On August 14, 2019, Rohr invited Maduka Okoye to a friendly against Ukraine, which will be played on September 10, 2019, at Dnipro-Arena.
On October 13, 2019, he made his international debut as a substitute in a 1–1 friendly against Brazil.
On December 25, 2021, he was named to Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 2021 AFCON Nations Cup by Caretaker Coach Eguavoen.
