Nicki Minaj’s Father’s Killer Sentenced To 1 Year In Jail For Hit-And-Run.
The motorist who struck and killed Nicki Minaj’s father and fled the scene will remain in jail for the ensuing 12 months.
After entering a plea of guilty to one count of leaving the scene of an accident and another count of tampering with evidence in connection with the accident in February 2021 that claimed the life of Robert Maraj, Charles Polevich was sentenced to one year in prison on Wednesday, according to TMZ.
In addition, he will have to pay a $5,000 fine and have his license banned for six months.
The court upheld his promise to sentence Polevich to no more than one year in prison even though the felony charge carried a maximum sentence of seven years in prison.
On February 12, 2021, while Maraj was crossing the street in Mineola, New York, a hit-and-run vehicle injured him. Before passing away the following day at the age of 64, he was transferred to a nearby hospital. The next week, Polevich was detained at his residence.

In a prior interview with Billboard, Polevich’s attorney stated that his client was “very repentant for any involvement he may have played in Mr. Maraj’s murder.”
Mr. Polevich’s entire story is one of service to others, thus this situation is completely out of character, according to Marc Gann. “There are no claims of substance addiction or use as a cause of his behaviour, and it is our opinion that Mr. Polevich’s behaviour was influenced by a medical cardiac condition. Mr. Polevich is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Maraj.
Nicki revealed “the most terrible loss of my life” in a post on her official website in May of last year. “I constantly find myself wanting to call him. Now that he is gone, much more so. That’s how life is, she wrote. May he find eternal peace in paradise. He was adored and will be much missed.
