Eminem’s Daughter Hailie recounts childhood experience with famous dad
Eminem’s daughter Hailie is speaking out about growing up as the child of one of the world’s most famous rappers.
Hailie Jade reminisced with her co-host and best friend Brittany Ednie about her “surreal” childhood with her famous father during the first episode of her “Just a Little Shady” podcast (named after her father).
“It’s so much fun to look back… “As an adult, I think, ‘Wow, that’s actually so surreal,'” said the now 26-year-old. “Those memories of me thinking those were normal things now make me go, ‘Holy crap, that was cool.'”
In the 30-minute episode, the BFFs recalled their childhood visits to Walt Disney World in Florida. Eminem was in town for business, but he also planned a girls’ trip for Hailie and Brittany. They both dressed up as Belle from Beauty and the Beast and arrived at the theme park in a limo.
“We went to Florida—my father was working on something—and he set up for us to do, like, the limo and take it to Disney, and we did the princess tea party, and he had the dresses waiting for us,” Hailie explained. “And even then, at the time, we were so happy and so excited.”
But we didn’t appreciate that moment as much as we do now when we talk about it and reflect on it. That was absolutely fantastic.”
They also bonded over their love of the Detroit Pistons, and they would attend games together on a regular basis. “I think your dad liked the Pistons as well,” Brittany said.
When they reached middle school, Hailie became engrossed in her studies and took them “way too seriously.”
“You were just following all the rules and thinking that your GPA in middle school was going to help you get into college or something,” Brittany explained.
Hailie, who was only four years old when Eminem released his major-label debut The Slim Shady LP in 1999, has kept her relationship with her father off social media, but the two are still close.
